DIY Lamp Makeover

Do you remember the Goodwill lamp that I shared with you back in November?
(You can read about it here.)

Back then, I did a little make over to the base of the lamp,
but when the shade was lit, a few dent marks showed up .

I'm slowly working on my living room and decided that the shade needed a little TLC.
I've painted one of the walls seascape blue, and
I wanted to bring a little of this color to the other side of the living room.  So, off to
Jo Ann's Fabric I went looking for just the right fabric.

This is what I found.

I wasn't quite sure about the sparkles, but it was the
the right color and sheer enough for the light to shine through.

It will match the scrolls in the  art work I have for the room.

This lampshade makeover was really quite simple.

You need only a few things .....

1. fabric -
1/3 yard
(Measure the height and width of the shade and add 1/2 inch for
fabric to be folded over at the top and bottom of the shade.)

2. Fabric Glue

3. Spray Craft Glue - I used Quilt Basting Spray
because that's what I had on hand.
It worked great since my fabric is very light weight.

4. Fabric Glue

5. Scissors
or
Rotary Cutting Tool and Cutting Board.

I began by spraying the shade with the quilt basting spray.
I did this outside..... you need a well ventilated area.

Take the fabric and place it onto the sticky lamp shade.

Wrap it around the shade...
smoothing out the wrinkles as you go.

Trim off the excess fabric on the top and bottom of the shade,
leaving 1/2 "  to fold over.

Fold the 1/2 " fabric over and secure it in place using the fabric glue.

Here's the finished product....costing me a mere $2.39 !

All lit up at night.

I love how the scroll work shows up at night.

What do you think of another one of my thrifty makeovers?
