SPRING DECOR ON A BUDGET (part 1)

Having grown a little weary of winter, and since it's March with spring  right around the corner, I decided to add a touch of spring to my home decor.

I found this little birdcage at a thrift store for $2.49. Having seen a painted white one at a gift shop for $39.99,  I snatched it up with a transformation in mind.

Here's what I started with...

... looking pretty ugly with old flowers and dust!!!

First I removed all the old flowers and decor followed with a good cleaning.

Then out came my Krylon Blue Ocean Breeze spray paint...

...giving it three coats of paint.

At this point the bird cage still looked a little plain. I decided to dress it up a bit, and created these little tags using images from Graphics Fairy.  Using card stock in my ink-jet printer, I adding "spring" to the nest, and then distressed them using ink.  The finished cards were attached to the bird cage using  jute twine.

At the same time I purchased the bird cage, I also found a cute little blue bird for .49 cents. I already had a birds nest and eggs.

To add the finishing touches to the bird cage.  I added  the bird nest with eggs and some moss on the outside for my little bird to sit on.
(Just peaking in her cage watching her eggs).

Here you can see my finished bird cage, adding spring decor to my home while staying within a limited budget.  Final cost ~  $ 3.49 !!!

I love how this piece went from drab and dreary to light, bright and ~
SPRING!
