Both of our daughters incorporated monograms in their weddings in one form or another.
One of our daughters made use of a variety of monograms:
the programs, unity candle, table candle luminaries, cake topper
and of course a large monogram for the church door
and behind the head table.
After doing some research we found out that the large floral/moss monograms from a florist were expensive.
I came up with this for a solution....
and this...
They're relatively easy to make.
Here's what I did....
1. Bought the monogram letter from a scrapbook garage sale ~50 cents each.
These can also be purchased at Michael's or scrapbook stores.
You can also purchase a large piece of Styrofoam and cut your own.
2. The moss was purchased @ Walmart and spray adhesive glue at Michael's.
3. Spray the monogram letter with the spray glue and press the moss on to it.
Using a hot glue gun, adhere stray pieces of the moss, silk flowers, and the ribbon on the back to hang the monogram.
This is a very easy project to make....just be very careful not to burn yourself with the hot glue... :(
I speak from experience...ouch!!
Have a great day!

ReplyDeleteyour monogram letters turned out great! Sometimes I just find it hard to believe that these things can cost so much from a florist!

Great job on the monograms and I hear you on being thrift with weddings! We also had two wedding last year and things add up so quickly and can get carried away. After all it is the union that is important. I always find that the "effect" can be had just as easily for less money in many ways. Nice to see you on Met Monday:D
