It's been a few days since I shared the first part of my Fall Home Tour. I've been busy with many projects at the Parsonage. I didn't want to make you wait any longer for the rest of the tour, so without any more delay...come on into my living room. It's all dressed for the fall season.
As you come into the room, one of the first things you will see is grandma's cedar chest. I decided to place a vignette on top of the chest using various pieces of mercury glass. In the vase I added fall leaves along with a few branches. I love white pumpkins and decided to add them to the vignette for an additional touch of color, rather than the typical orange pumpkins.

MY FALL HOUSE TOUR
I questioned if I should share my fall home tour, since a lot of things are the same as last year. I however have added a few new things and changed things around a bit so decided to share it with you.
Let's start in the dining room.

DIY FALL ARTWORK - PAINTED PUMPKIN
We had a very hard freeze here this past Friday night, now that brisk feeling is in the air each day. I'd say it is safe to say that fall has arrived. With the cool weather here and the gardening finished for the season, I've had a little more free time. I've put out a few of my fall decorations, but I like to add a few new things each year.
I really like the white pumpkins along with the blueish gray "Blue Moon" pumpkins. I tried to find some this fall, but found them difficult to find. I then remembered a blog post I read last year "You can paint a pumpkin canvas, art skills not required" by Jennifer Rizzo. I decided if I painted a pumpkin, I could enjoy it for the fall season. I've done a few art and painting projects before but I'm not a pro. I found Jennifer's instructions very helpful.
So here's my Canvas Pumpkin Artwork.
It's not perfect, but as the Nester says, " It doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful"!

DIY BURLAP PUMPKIN (EASY - NO SEWING REQUIRED)
I've been on a little decorating binge using burlap. I used burlap for the table decor at the rehearsal dinner for our son and daughter-in-law and have some leftover burlap. I showed you how to make a burlap table runner a few months ago. (I know I'm a little late but I do plan to share with you soon the rehearsal dinner decor.)
Because I'm in the fall mood, I thought it would be fun to try and make a burlap pumpkin. I've seen a few you can buy but they tend to be a little costly. I'd like to show you my cheaper and easy burlap pumpkin I made.
Below is the list of items I used to make this burlap pumpkin.

FALL DECORATING FOR THE HOME
Even though the temperature out side does not show it (90 degrees), summer is quickly drawing to an end and fall is fast approaching. We just returned from a two week trip to see our family and friends in Washington state. It's hard to believe we're almost to the middle of September already - seems like summer just flew by !
I love fall and all the vibrant colors that come with the change of season. Autumn is a great time to bring the red, yellows, brown and orange colors into your home along with elements from nature like pumpkins, gourds, leaves, branches and pine cones. I did just that yesterday. Here is a little sneak peak of what I did.

I used one of the burlap table runners I made for rehearsal dinner. I then made a floral arrangement using flowers also left over from the rehearsal dinner. To give it a touch of fall, I simply wrapped it with some orange fabric.

FALL DECOR
This past weekend I finally got to do some fall decorating around the house. I've been wanting to put out my fall decorations, but with all the office stuff sitting in the living room it was delayed.
I love using my mercury glass pieces. I purchased a few new thing to add to my collection including this mercury glass pumpkin from Tj Maxx ($5.99) In this vignette, I brought together silver and gold to accentuate the fall colors in the candles and leaves.
The fabric and silver pine cone candle holder were recent thrift store finds.

DIY FALL WREATH
She recently told me about a fall wreath she was making.
She sent me photos along with instructions on how she made it. The flowers were bought 1/2 price from Hobby Lobby making it a budget friendly project.
Here's what she did.
Arranged the flowers - alternating every other color.
Using a a wire cutter, snip the heads off of the flowers.
Using a hot glue gun, glue the flowers to the grapevine wreath.
And finally, a piece of the satin ribbon was cut and tied to the wreath.
The ribbon can then be used for hanging the wreath.
I love the colors she chose for this wreath.
Here it is hanging on her front door.
In the future, I'm hoping to share a project from my younger sister.

DIY FALL DECOR TUTORIAL
Yesterday I did a post entitled Fall Decorating Room by Room . I promised in that post a tutorial.

Budget Friendly Fall Wall Art
This is such an easy project that anyone can do it.
Here's what you'll need for this project.
1. Two plates
2. Vinyl and a Cricut machine or sticker letters.
3. Wire plate hangers.
I started with two .49 cent thrift store plates.
My Cricut Expression machine along with some black vinyl.
I used the machine to cut give thanks.
If you don't have a Cricut machine, you could use stickers like I use to create
my SPRING eggs art.
Simply pick the font and size font you want and cut.
The next step is to adhere them to the plate by simply rubbing them on.
I took down my spring/summer plates and artwork,
and replaced them with the new fall plates and candle holder.
The candle holder was something I had in the closet, that I bought on an after Christmas sale for $3.
The candle is another .49 cent thrift store find.
In this photo you can see the easy
Budget Friendly DIY Fall Art hanging on the wall.
Cost run down
Plates - .98 cents
Vinyl - had on hand from another project
Plate hangers - had on hand.
Candle holder - $3
Candle - .49 cents
total cost to make Give Thanks Art = .98 cents
Total grouping costs = $ 4.47

FALL DECORATING - ROOM BY ROOM
It's hard to believe that we're seeing the end of summer and fall fast approaching. We didn't feel official summer until after the 4th of July. The joke around here was that we had June-uary, because of all the cold wet weather. We are now enjoying beautiful weather, but fall is definitely in the air with the crisp cool nights and a nip in the air most mornings.
That being said, I think it's time to start some fall house cleaning and bringing out my fall decorations. I'm planning on doing this room by room; and while doing this I'll share the fall decor I've added to each room.
Today I'll begin with the dinning room. Of course, the decorating is done on a limited budget, but that doesn't mean you can't add a few new things. For the table decor, I began by placing a garage sale table runner down that I've had for a few years already. I then added a candle stick that my husband made years ago. I then placed a 49 cent thrift store candle on it and flanked it with two vertical wheat bundles. The wheat bundles were found at my local thrift store last week for 99 cents each. I love to know how much I've saved by purchasing second hand items, so I did an on line search for these and I found some similar ones for $ 59.98 each. That makes for a $119.96 savings and one thrifty find!

DIY POTTERY BARN INSPIRED PLACE CARD HOLDER
I love the change of the seasons and along with it the arrival of new fall catalogs. I just received the new Pottery Barn fall magazine in my mail box; and it has my creative juices flowing.
I spotted these cute little rustic bronze finished pumpkin place card holders. Here's the link to see these cuties over at Pottery Barn (I'm not being reimbursed in any way by PB for this but wanted to share what I saw). They are made of cast aluminum, and come with a price tag of $26 for a set of 4. We'll be having 9 - 10 guests for thanksgiving dinner, so I'd need to buy 3 sets = $78!
That price being a little rich for this thrifty gal, I came up with my own version using dollar store items and paint that I already had around the house. Here's what I did....
1. Bought 2 bags of small pumpkins/gourds
3. Applied spray paint to pumpkins and gourds.
4. The pumpkins didn't look quite bronze enough after the metallic paint was applied, so I added gold glitter paint that I had bought at a garage sale this summer for 10 cents!
5. Unlike the Pottery Barn pumpkins that are made from cast aluminum, the dollar store pumpkins are made from Styrofoam. This made it very easy to make a cut with an exact o knife, and insert the place card into the slot.
Here's what they look like in a place setting.
What do you think? Is it a good PB knock off?
My total cost = $2 for a set of 10!

USING TOUCHES OF NATURE TO DECORATE
While driving the countryside this past week, I was in awe of the beauty of God's handy work all around me especially with the change in seasons and all the vibrant colors. After seeing such beauty, I decided to bring a few touches of it into my home. Of course, we all may bring in leaves or nuts, but I found some other beauties to bring in.
ROSE HIP/ ROSE SEED PODS
These pods are such a vibrant orange and red, the perfect color for FALL !
I used them along with my $1 garage sale find from this summer.
If you're inspired by these beauties, you could achieve the same look by using candles you already have or dollar store candles. To finish the look off, place them on a tray or plate and add the rose pods.
A little note of caution : I don't know if these pods are poisonous, so please keep that in mind if you have small children in your home. Treat them as if they were poisonous by keeping them out of reach of young children just as you would other poisonous house plants, bulbs and seeds.
Have a great weekend !

FALL DECORATING
It's official: FALL is in the air! At least at my home it is....crisp cool weather with foggy mornings and leaves turning bright colors.
When this happens, I love to add these touches of the season to my home.
Here's a glimpse of the parsonage dressed with all its
fall decor.
fall decor.
Starting in the kitchen and dinning area.
A simple fall sign is displayed above the kitchen cabinets. This was simply made using scrapbook paper and thrift store frames...while pumpkins sit clustered together on the side table.
Of course, I had to add my knock off Pottery Barn Candle that I made last fall. If you'd like to
read that post go
here.
The Living Room
I found this candle holder/bowl at a garage sale for only $1 this summer.
By changing out the decor, it will work
well for any season.
I love bringing in natural touches when I decorate; and I did this by adding
Indian corn and a starfish.
Of course the leaves and corn where purchased second hand all for only $1.50 !
This lantern was my favorite find at a garage sale a few weeks ago.
It was only $3 candle included! It reminds me of the Pottery Barn Lanterns that come with a big price tag of $ 39!
Adding the leaves make for a great fall vignette.
The sofa pillows received some sprucing up as well,
by adding fall slipcovers.

Adding A Touch Of Fall To Your Home
I love the colors and warm scent of fall.
You can incorporate this into your own home decor by adding a few simple things that you may already own.
Candles are a good example of this: they add both a wonderful scent to your home and a splash of color.
Here are a few I've added around the house.

I love the smell of cinnamon these candles give.
This one smells like sticky buns, it makes you want to bake cinnamon rolls.
