IT'S GARAGE SALE SEASON

Can you believe that the summer is half over already, and garage sale season is in full swing?  As I told you in my previous post, my summer has been crazy busy.  I've not only traveled half way across the country to see family and friends, but I've also been gone camping with a church group.  The week I was packing for camping, I also was getting ready to have a garage sale with my daughter.  Crazy I know, but it was at her house and it was the only date that worked.  I had plans to take photos of the event, but forgot my camera at home.  However, this past Saturday I did get the chance to hit a few garage sales myself.   I thought I'd share just a few of my thrifty finds with you.

I found this Eddie Bauer highchair for $20 for our daughter.  She has been looking for some time on Craigslist and Ebay where the prices started at $89 to $159.   It came with a 4 position tray with convenient holders for cups and baby food.  It also has a second clipped  tray that's removable and dishwasher safe.  The pad is removable for laundry purposes.  It's even in the dark wood finish that she wanted.  I think my little granddaughter will look so cute sitting in it.

 This $2 chair will come in handy when the grand daughters are at our home.

 

I also found a few things for my self.  This picture/wall art was brand new, still in it's original packing for only $3.  It was the perfect find for my coffee themed kitchen/dinning area.

One can never have too many baskets, right?  Who could pass this one up for a mere 25 cents.

THE PARSONAGE EVENTS

Hi everyone!  I'm writing a quick note to let know that I have not forgotten about all of you.  I've been on vacation for two weeks with my family and now have guests at our home for two weeks.  It's a very busy time at the Parsonage.   Many mile stones - as we have celebrated many things this month - Father's day, birthdays ( mine and my daughters birthdays are a day apart).  We also had two sons graduations and a nephews wedding.  We're sad as we helped our son pack to move across the country 1700 miles.  We are happy for him as he will begin a new job in the career he trained for in college.  Here are just a few photos of the events.  I'll be posting again when my parents leave in an other week.

IKEA VISIT

I had such a great weekend this past week. Our family did something we've never done before: we had a 2 1/2 day get away to a near by city.  We stayed in a lovely Embassy Suites Hotel. We enjoyed each others company while relaxing, swimming, viewing museums, fine dinning along with some shopping.

Everyone got some R and R; and we did a lot of catching up on each others lives.

While at the museum, we went through a butterfly garden.  Here are a few of the many photos I took.  They were so beautiful...

Our daughter is a beautician, and did all the girls' hair before our big night out.

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner together at a nice restaurant!

It seems like a lot of bloggers have been shopping at Ikea lately -Beneath My Heart -Thifty Decor Chic  -Lettered Cottage .

They are not alone!  On Saturday morning we all headed over to Ikea for some great shopping.  We all attended a cooking demonstration. A big bonus was given to the first 10 guests.

I took my camera in the store intending to take photos, but I got so caught up in the shopping and having fun with my family that I completely forgot to take any photos.


I did, however, get a very cut little faux plant that I've added to my spring vignette in our dinning room. Doesn't it look real?

Some people are opposed to faux plants, but for someone who doesn't have a green thumb, they're great! 

Both Ikea and Pottery Barn feature faux plants, so I'm guessing it's ok to use them in my home.

Home Again!

I'm back!!!
Did you miss me?
I have a little secret to share with you ....
I've just returned home from a two week trip.
This was the first time in 13 years we were able to spend
Christmas and New Years with our families!

It was quite the trip .... we traveled over 3500 miles and spent 60 hours riding in the car (lots of family bonding time). We weathered through icy roads and a whiteout snow storm! Yikes!!!
Our trip home was delayed by two days due to freeway closures, but that meant more time with our family :)
What joy and blessing to spend the Christmas Holiday with family and friends!

While traveling home, I started to come down with a cold and have been sick for the past week.
I'm starting to regain my health, and hope to be back posting soon!

A Tribute to Servicemen and Women

Memorial Day

Let us take some time to remember the men and women

who have served or are serving this country.

I'm thankful for their talents, courage, faithfulness, and sacrifices

and if necessary their lives to

keep us a free and protected country.

On this day I always lovingly remember my Dad

who fought courageously on the front lines in the Korean War.

As a memory for his bravery I made this memory box a few years ago.

I incorporated a few of his military items along with some other items ...

a fishing lure (he loved to fish)

and a pencil he always carried in his pocket for work.

I am thankful for his service and my mom being a loving a supportive military wife.

(My dad died very unexpectedly of a massive heart attack March 13, 1982)

~Remembering Jarrod~

Today I'm writing a post a little different than my other posts.

It's a date that is very special to our family. Twenty eight years ago today was a day of great joy for my husband and myself because our son Jarrod was born. This little guy was a boy who always had a smile on his face. He loved life and had a great sense of humor, he had us laughing often.

I am thankful today for the four years he was in our lives and I had the privilege to be his mom. I'm thankful for his love for the Lord and how just before going into the operating room for his open heart surgery he said "Jesus will take my hand". Those were his last words to us as parents and because of the Lords' amazing grace he's now safe in the arms of Jesus.
